Weekly Report: 9/18/2023 - 9/22/2023

Hi RLA parents!

It was another great week here at Radiance! Kids continued putting together their individual family trees; used Circle Time to learn about the importance of affirmations, growth mindset, and identifying one’s own emotions; and just generally became more comfortable with staff and classmates.

Preschoolers have been working their way through the alphabet learning about the different letters: what they look like, how to write them, their sounds, and words they’re used in. This week was all about the letter “B.” PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students began to focus on their spelling skills as they also continuously improved their reading skills.

In Summit, kids have been enjoying dancing to such songs as “The Floor is Lava,” “Count to 100 by 1’s,” & “The Gummy Bear Song,” and doing The Chicken Dance. They also have been doing yoga and playing games like Simon Says and doing relay races. They of course also love their free-play time where they play with toys and run free!

A few announcements and reminders:

Please read through everything carefully and add dates to your personal calendars.

  • Teachers are looking for parent volunteers to come in and read to students! PreK, KG, and 1st grade teachers are looking for volunteer readers to come in every-other Friday, and Preschool teachers are looking for different volunteer “Mystery Readers” to come in one Friday every month. Parents would read to kids from 3:30-3:50, ideally with their own books from home or the library.

  • Preschool would like to start their volunteer reading program next Friday the 29th. Please e-mail Bayley at if you are interested in being that day’s Mystery Reader (but don’t tell your child that you might be coming in – it’s supposed to by a mystery!). For all the other volunteering dates, PTSA will be putting together online sign-ups, so please be on the lookout for those!

  • As mentioned in last Friday’s e-mail, our first field trip will be to Oxbow Farm in Carnation on Friday, October 27th. We will need some parent drivers and chaperones to assist with this event, so PTSA will be sending out another online sign-up for this specific occasion. Please consider volunteering – it will be tons of fun and your kids would love to have you come along!

  • You may have noticed a new staff member working here at Radiance. Her name is Chelsea, and she is taking the place of Yuli as our Center Aide. Yuli is unfortunately leaving RLA because she needs to focus more time on completing work related to her Green Card project. We will miss her dearly and wish her only the best! Make sure to say goodbye to her before her last day, which will be next Friday the 29th.

  • The rain has begun! Once again, please make sure that your kids are always prepared to go outside rain or shine. So, dust off those rain boots and rain jackets – the kids are going to need them!

  • Several students have been out sick lately.  Here are some tips to avoid illness: wash hands with soap and water regularly, avoid touching one’s face, get enough sleep, regularly disinfect commonly used surfaces, eat healthy, wear a mask when out in public, and get vaccinated against the flu and COVID.

  • Don’t forget to visit our social media pages to view photos and videos from the week!
